Application Process

We are currently accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year!

1. Print and complete an Application Form from the link below. Return it to the Shands School with a $75 application fee.

2. Enclose school records for the current year and from the previous year:

School report cards Reports, such as speech and language, occupational therapy, counseling, and tutoring that provide information about your child's ability If your child has had a psycho-educational or neuro-psychological assessment conducted please include it

Please do not send your application without the materials requested as we cannot make a decision regarding the appropriateness of the Shands School's program for your child without this information.

3. Make an appointment at Shands School for your child to have an individual learning assessment. This will take approximately 1.5 hours and the fee is $170. The assessment includes:

• Basic reading and math proficiency.
• Developmental Motor – includes motor planning, core balance, gross
   and fine motor skills.
• Visual Information Processing – includes Visual Perceptual Skills
   and Visual–Auditory Integration.
• Learning styles – includes visual, auditory, motor, memory, language.

Tuition and Fees

There is a $500.00 deposit due in July to hold a place for your child.

Annual Tuition: $14,500.00
Activity Fee: $175.00
Payment options:Quarterly/Semester/Annually

* Referral discount (Refer a student to Shands and upon successful enrollment, receive 10% off tuition)

Shands is dedicated to providing access to our school so that we may serve all children who would benefit from our program. We offer sliding-scale tuition based on need and encourage interested parents to contact us for individual consultation.

We are qualified to receive scholarship funds from the N.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program. Students with disabilities or in need of financial assistance can apply at www.ncseaa.edu
